"The Sunflower Jam 2011 will be remembered for one of Jon Lord’s most rewarding appearances of 2011 – musically daring and performed with sharp excellence.

On an evening already rife with musical talent, Jon Lord shared the stage with Rick Wakeman for the pair’s brand new composition It’s Not As Big As It Was (allegedly about the music biz although it was preceeded by jokes about old age and prostate problems). This was without a doubt The Sunflower Jam’s musical crown jewel benefitting the good cause of helping children suffering from cancer. Donations are still welcome."

Jon Lord appears onstage after almost an hour of excellent music from the likes of Danny Bowes (Thunder), Gary Brooker, Joe Bonamassa and Newton Faulkner. These gentlemen (and woman) have entertained the crowd with blues and rock classics that fare very well, particularly Gary Brooker’s rendition of A Whiter Shade of Pale and Joe Bonamassa’s Thrill is Gone. However, Jon will proceed to seize the show and push up the excitement level several  notches.

“One of the greatest keyboardists in rock’n’roll, Mr. Jon Lord!” Joe Bonamassa introduces the maestro and kicks off a slowly evolving Ballad of John Henry. Bonamassa’s bluesrock signature tune is the perfect choice for the two masters to pool their forces. Building its riff to a roar before dipping to the verse – and then lifting itself up to the menacing chorus, Jon’s swirling Hammond backdrop has touhes of the quietly contemplative work he did for the band Ride some years ago.

Standing at the edge of the stage – having pushed the organ chair to a side – Jon is in great shape and form; focused and well prepared for what will turn into an absolute musical feast celebrating almost every aspect of his musical prowess – and in the stately old Royal Albert Hall where his work first came to prominence in 1969 – and again in 1999.

Bonamassa’s John Henry is taken down to a shimmer and Bonamassa steps up to the theremin to make it squeal eerily to the fascinated crowd – until Jon Lord gently takes over. His solo is stormy and intense, developing to a massive Hammond crescendo full of his trademark wails and runs. Bonamassa moves closer and teases Jon into a guitar-organ chase the likes of which we’ve not heard for nearly 20 years… Majestic and spine-shivering.

Thanking Bonamassa, Jon introduces the next piece as Bourree from his Sarabande album. The contrast is tangible. With the evening’s musical director Paul Wickens on synthesizer, Jon handles piano and then Hammond for the solo. Anna Phoebe adds a particularly mean solo violin to the piece, expanding again the range of musical flavours of an already boundary pushing evening.

“I’ve got a big ask of you. Not a big ass – although it used to be bigger – but a big ask. Into every show a quiet song must fall,” explains Jon Lord before presenting ”the rather wonderful” Steve Balsamo to sing Jon’s most popular solo piece. Balsamo delivers a particularly tender and confident Pictured Within – in his element, gazing out at the crowd, inspiring pin drop silence. Lacking the sweeping string section of its standard orchestral arrangement, in its place Anna Phoebe displays immaculate delicatesse on her fiddle. The piece is a gorgeous contrast to the previous rackets and again, Jon Lord’s musicality proves its extraordinary range.

Ok, ok, tudo já foi falado e dito, publicado e republicado, só aqui na alcatéia a matilha tem procurado os discos dele que nem loucos.

Mas não poderia e nem quero ficar de fora prq cada um tem uma visão da vida como um grande caleidoscópio e a visão que tenho do mestre Lord não é uma atuação específica, não é um trabalho específico ou não é algo relacionado com o show business como um todo.

Numa entrevista, Jon é indagado sobre Tommy Bolin e aí sim "o cara" responde: "Era um menino maravilhoso, um anjo em forma de criança, uma pessoa maravilhosa"!!!!!!!!!!!

Porra, mas todo mundo só desceu a lenha no coitado ao ponto de dizerem sem saber porra nenhuma que em Osaka ele não tocou a famosa escala de SotWaters prq estaria com os braços amortecidos de tanta droga espetada, e quem como eu tem o show (já postei e derrubaram todas as vz) e vê inclusive ele cantando, brincando e sorrindo muito percebe que a mentira rondava a vida do garoto prq ele não era o antipático e xarope do Blackmore que era mestre sim em chutar cameras, derrubar fãs pra passar e largar o palco e tocar nos bastidores prq tava de mau humor, um puta dum fresco isso sim.

Mas o único a dizer palavras doces e gentis foi o mestre Jon Lord, aí não bastasse tudo ele me conquista como ser humano, prq tocar até macaco aprende, agora ser um ser humano que não faça peso na terra poucos conseguem e Jon Lord conseguiu.

Graças dou por poder tê-lo ouvido desde o Santa Barbara Machine Head, o Purple, e sua carreira solo em minha vida e tb poder fazer essa singela homenagem ao Purple mais gentil e ao coração da banda.

Grato sempre a todos que sempre participam e tem mais posts pra vir de outros artistas enviados por lobos ávidos em compartilhar boa música; mas aqui mais uma vez contei com a logística do Dê.Meu Caro Dead, Jon Lord se foi, a mensagem abaixo recebida de um amigo, mais fã ainda de Deep Purple que eu, expressa muito bem como nos sentimos.

José Paulo de Macedo Soares JuniorJonathan Douglas "Jon" Lord, mais conhecido como Jon Lord (Leicester, 9 de junho de 1941 — Londres, 16 de julho de 2012), foi um compositor, pianista e organista inglês, mais conhecido por ter integrado as bandas Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Paice, Ashton & Lord, The Artwoods e Flower Pot Men, além de ser pioneiro na fusão do rock com música clássica.

Em 1968, Lord fundou a banda de rock inglesa Deep Purple, onde era praticamente o líder da banda até 1970.

Ele e o baterista Ian Paice, foram os únicos integrantes constantes da banda durante sua existência (1968-1976) e a partir de quando eles se reformaram em 1984, até a saída de Lord do Deep Purple, em 2002.

Em 11 de novembro de 2010, Jon Lord foi eleito membro honorário da Faculdade de Stevenson, em Edimburgo.

Em 15 de julho de 2011, foi concedido à ele um grau honorário de Doutor em Música pela Universidade de Leicester, em sua cidade natalObras:

Seu som é extasiante e gratificante, aliás por pura preguiça e pra não perder o ritmo roubei o link do Pirata do Rock, mas ele e aquela tripulação não me assustam,ré,ré,ré

É isso, pelo nome e de quem é não tem muito o que falar, só um adendo, vcs se lembram dos Monkees e seu baterista?

Pete York era o tal não? Basta olhar pra baixo e consultar os links deles e descobrir que o cara está aí ou não? A cara não bate mas as histórias sim por isso....

This has elements of the old Apollo Theatre in Harlem Rhythm and Blues Revues of the early 50s and the procession of solo singers and instrumentalists keeps it interesting and fascinating. In 1982 the Rock and Blues Circus toured Germany with Jon, Colin, Pete, Chris Farlowe and others, while in the UK another line-up with Chris, Brian Auger, Colin, Spencer Davis and Pete went out under the name of Blues Reunion.

Other old friends like Miller, Zoot and Tony Ashton were brought into this. Various other band names were used along the way, Endangered Species, Daddy and the Steamers etc but in essence the success of the shows lies in the drive and feeling produced by these virtuoso old friends and in the fun they have in doing it.PETE YORK – drums
In the 1960’s Pete was part of the successful the Spencer Davis Group. Pete then joined Eddie Hardin to form Hardin & York, „the World’s Smallest Big Band“. He toured with Klaus Doldinger’s Passport, Chris Barber’s Jazzband. The American Blues Legends and star soloists from blues, jazz and rock like Sonny Boy Williamson, Eric Clapton and Johnny Griffin. Pete appeared with Jon Lord’s orchestral projects Windows and Sarabande. They first played R & B together in the Rock & Blues Circus in the 80MILLER ANDERSON – guitar and vocals
His first name band was the Keef Hartley Band. He wrote much of the material they recorded on their several successful LPs and was the impressive frontman when they appeared at Woodstock in 1969. Miller went on to be featured with Savoy Brown, Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack, Blood Sweat and Tears, Marc Bolan’s T. Rex, Mick Taylor, Donovan, Mountain, the Spencer Davis Group, Pete York’s Super Drumming TV series, Jon Lord’s orchestral projects and used to be with the British Blues Quintet. He now leads his own Miller Anderson Band on tour in Europe and continues to compose original songs for his performances.MAGGIE BELL – vocals,
One of the most exciting singers of the 60s and 70s with the legendary Stone The Crows, also Peter Green, Steve Howe and Taj Mahal. The raw power of her singing and her stage presence have not diminished one iota over her long career and whether she is on the road with Dave Kelly, Chris Farlowe or the British Blues Quintet she earns standing ovations from the fans of all ages.COLIN HODGKINSON – bass
Began his bass-playing career with Alexis Korner, where he learned the roots of the blues. His group Back Door was a highly original concept and enjoyed great success. He went on to be part of Charlie Watts Rocket 88, David Coverdale’s Whitesnake, the Olympic Rock and Blues Circus with Jon Lord, Pete York and Chris Farlowe. He also toured with Brian Auger, Chris Rea, Frank Diez and the Spencer Davis Group. Colin also appeared with Pete York in the Super Drumming TV series.ZOOT MONEY – keyboards
Became one of the first Hammond organ soloists and a highly individual singer with his Big Roll Band in the 60s. His recording of Big Time Operator was a 60s hit. Often voted the favourite band of other stars of the time, Zoot’s mix of blues, soul, jazz and raving lunacy were perfect for the era. Andy Summers (later of Police) was his guitarist and Zoot later collaborated with Alexis Korner and Eric Burdon. He has also acted in British films and TV and his personality has enlivened projects with Alan Price, Bobby Tench, Humble Pie and his own British Blues Quintet.Line-up:
